]]>AGEify participated during the 14th – 17th January at the 25th anniversary of InterNEXT2022.
Our Sales Manager, Konstantinos Mavreas, was one of the panel speakers at the session “Don’t get blocked – Age Verification & Consent”.
As part of the panel, he had to answer about some of the emerging methods of age checking if consumers prefer not to share a facial image.
“It is important to clarify again the difference between Age Verification and Age Estimation. As correctly stated before, age verification is proving the exact age of the user, whereas in age estimation, the user usually needs to be either above a certain age or fall into a specific age group. So, for example here in the United States if you want to buy alcohol you need to be above 21, whereas if you want to access adult content you can easily be under 21, but you must be above 18.
For Age Verification, the norm in the industry is to use Documentation, Credit Card ownership, Utility Bills, SMS through your mobile phone (as the number is registered to a specific owner) and database Checking.
On the other hand, for Age Estimation, we can find Facial Biometrics, Social proofing, Voice and Language Analysis.
We can all imagine, that taking a selfie might be a bit intrusive for some, and they would prefer some other form of age estimation. Here come in place some alternatives, with the first being voice and language analysis, where using AI AV providers have managed to take the voice of the user, compare it through patterns of speech and language, and be able to estimate whether the user is above a certain age. This can of course be only an estimation, and if necessary, it can be combined with another method as well.
Another alternative comes through social proofing, where we can find two trends. The first being an analysis of the social media pattern of the user, again using AI, estimating an above or below the age limit required. The second trend, which is AGEify’s competitive advantage, is by using other age verified users as in-betweens, to confirm the suggested age of a new user. Here the new user enters his or her age, and then requests other users to confirm whether it is correct.
Summing up, as technology surges there will be new ways of not only estimating, but in the end verifying a user’s age, with the need of hard proofing.”

This year’s event was under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Development & Investments, the Hellenic Ministry of Environment & Energy and the Municipality of Eleusis and attracted considerable attention. The Forum is the largest multi-conference on entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation in Greece and was powered by Mantis Business Innovation.
AGEify was represented by Business Development Manager, Dr. Photis Kostamis and Sales Manager, Konstantinos Mavreas, who both had B2B meetings with Investors, Organizations, and other StartUps, exploring opportunities for new funding, as well as increasing AGEify’s presence in the Greek StartUp market.

]]>AGEify is participating in the first conference of the euCONSENT project that will be held in Athens, Greece on September 9th.
The conference will focus exclusively on finding the balance between Online Child’s Rights, Age Verification and Parental Consent.
Participants will hear the findings of a major suite of academic and primary research in the field by the LSE, Aston and Leiden Universities and Revealing Reality. These findings are in the framework of the euCONSENT program, funded by the European Commission in an effort to develop a European-wide infrastructure to facilitate interoperable Age Verification and Parental Consent mechanisms.
There will also be contributions from EU-wide charities and several of the global platforms, currently seeking to comply with the latest developments in EU law in these fields.
The euCONSENT team will also present their early ideas on how to approach delivering a pan-European solution for Age Verification and Parental Consent.

]]>From the 28th of June until the 1st of July, AGEify participated in the hybrid version of the MWC 2021 in Barcelona.
With presence in two different Pavilions, the Belgian and the Greek, and a team of 4 people consisted by Product Manager Vangelis Bagiatis, CTO Sofia Savvidou, Business Development Manager Dr. Photis Kostamis and Sales Manager Konstantinos Mavreas, AGEify held a dynamic stance in showcasing its online Age Verification solution, and at the same time its role in the euCONSENT project.
While demonstrating the capabilities of the AGEify solution in online Age Verification, and the significance of protecting minors from age restricted content and products, the AGEify team met and explored new collaborations with several interested parties.
The AGEify presence attracted considerable attention and in this context video interviews were conducted by SEKEE, the official channel of the MWC 2021 and the polish news site Newseria.
We are expecting an even bigger presence in the MWC of 2022 and are looking forward to the future.
